Because a Bicycle-Path is a space destined specifically for the circulation of people using bicycles and according to the UN, the bicycle is the most practical vehicle for routes up to six kilometres long, we would like to promote Cycling either in Herdade da Corte or in the Ecovia so close to us.
The “Ecovias (EcoPath) of the Algarve” is a set of cycling routes, created for the preferential use of the bicycle. They are part of a major project defined for the Algarve, which is constituted by 4 main axles: Ecovia of the Coast, Ecovia of the Guadiana, Ecovia of Costa Vicentina and Ecovia of the Interior.
The “Ecovia of the Coast” covers the coast of the Algarve in an extension of 214Km, from Cape S. Vicent (Vila do Bispo) to Vila Real de S. António, crossing 12 councils. The development of this project is based in a partnership between the Intermunicipal Community of Algarve (AMAL), the Commission of Coordination and Regional Development of the Algarve and the Institute of Conservation of the Nature and Biodiversity - Natural Park of Ria Formosa.
The main goal was to reuse some old paths (that lead us to the magnificent landscapes throughout the algarvian coast)and improve them with the proper usage of specific signalling, from the simple kilometric landmarks to the most elaborated “informative panels”.
